SATURDAY CLASSES


These introductory art sessions are intergenerational with participants ranging from 8 to 98 years of age and are taught by talented, seasoned instructors.


Feb. 3rd. classes


Van Gogh and The Sunflowers

10:00 AM - 12:30 PM

Instructor—Joan Larsen

Cost $35 plus $10 materials fee

Come join in this fun and educational art class!  You will learn about Vincent Van Gogh, oil pastels, and create your own large sunflower painting to take home.  The class is 2.5 hours.  All skills are welcome. 14 years & Up


Creative Broom Making

1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Instructor—Nancy Binkowski  

Cost $35 plus $10 materials fee

Learn the art of making decorative brooms - using natural materials you will learn basic skills and create your very own functional broom. During this hands-on session students will learn about a variety of broom styles, techniques and historical information.


Feb. 10th Class


Glass Fusing- Valentine Designs


10:00 AM - 11:30 AM

Instructor—Bobbie VanEck

Cost: $35 plus $10 materials fee

Create a striking Valentine design in glass.  You will learn how to design, cut, nip and join together glass elements to make a one-of-a-kind glass design that will be kiln-fired and available for Valentine's Day.



Feb. 10th  Family Class


Play With Clay—Moms, Dads & Kids


10:00 AM - 11:30 AM

Instructor--Nobel Schuler

Cost: $10 per family member plus a $20 fee for materials and firing.

Pinch pots, coil pots, slab work and glazing will be explored in this class designed for a fun family clay experience.



March 24  Raku Glow

This special day is usually for artists who have previously visited the studio and would like to glaze and fire their unfinished work and for those who wish to experience Raku for the first time.  The kilns will be fired throughout the day beginning at 10:00 AM and conclude at 4:00 PM.  You should select one of the cycles and call to be placed on the schedule (517)-629-8293 and then join the fun and firing festivities during your preferred time.  


Firing Schedule:         10:00 AM              12:00 PM              2:00 PM            


Returning Artists--Glazing their oun pottery

Glazing / Firing fee--$10 & up (depending on the size)


First Timers and Walk-In's are welcomed.

You choose a piece of Schuler Arts pottery and glaze it for firing.  Cost is $20 & up. (depending on the size)

OPEN STUDIO-- for independent study


This studio series provides a flexible schedule for independent artistic exploration.  Learn at your own pace in a friendly, creative atmosphere with helpful suggestions and teaching demonstrations available upon request.  You can join at any time since the class series never ends and if you miss a class--no problem, simply come at another time.


CLAY -- Wednesday afternoons 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.     and / or     Wednesday evenings from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.


              Class Dates are:   Jan. 17, 24, 31    Feb. 7, 21, 28    March  14, 21, 28


DRAWING--Thursday evenings only---from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM


              Class Dates are:   Jan 18, 18, 25     Feb. 15, 22,    March  15, 22, 29


No experience required.

Basic materials and equipment are provided and firing fees are included.
